HI! I'M NHADYA.

I was born and raised in Florida by a Haitian Mom which is pretty cool because I grew up speaking a second language. This meant I could howl “Mommy her Dress is Ugly!” and no one would know. As a kid, I put a lot of energy into cracking jokes and performing skits for anyone who’d watch. At the mature age of 12 I decided I would be an actress.

I’ve been fortunate to have worked with incredible artists and have even won a Broadway World award, so now I call myself an “Award-winning bilingual, Haitian-American actress” because well, it sounds long. Although I love comedy and my only sister calls me “the funny one,” I also really enjoy drama.

My favorite roles so far include Beneatha in A Raisin in the Sun, "Dorothy" in Orange is the New Black, "Monique" in Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It and "Mindy" opposite Connie Britton on Showtime’s Golden Globe nominated comedy SMILF.

When I’m not acting I enjoy volunteering with the kiddos and learning a new “big word” from the dictionary daily. My sister graduated with her master’s from HARVARD and I can’t have my parents thinking she’s the smart one.

If you’ve read this far, you’ve officially inspired me to have more patience. I too hope to inspire. I hope by living my dreams inspires others to go for theirs.
